Apartment Moving Checklist for Reno and Sparks Renters

01Four weeks out: paperwork and dates

Check your lease for the required notice period and submit it in writing. Confirm your exact move-out date and time, the move-in date at the new place, and whether there is any overlap. If there is a gap, decide now whether a storage unit is part of the plan.

02Two to three weeks out: access and equipment

This is the window where apartment moves are won. Reserve the elevator if the building requires it, ask where a truck or van can legally park, and find out whether you need a loading-dock slot or a temporary permit.

Book your totes and equipment for this stretch too. Having containers a few days early means you can pack in evenings instead of cramming everything into moving day.

• Reserve elevator or loading area
• Confirm truck parking and any permits
• Schedule tote delivery for a few days before the move
• Add dollies, straps, blankets, and mattress bags as needed

03One week out: pack in priority order

Start with storage, closets, and decor, and leave the kitchen and bedroom for last. Label every tote by room and mark your first-night group clearly. Set aside medications, documents, and valuables to travel with you.

04Moving day: protect the path

Clear and protect the route through breezeways, stairwells, and doorways before you carry anything. Floor protection and door or jamb padding prevent the two charges renters most often see on a final statement.

Keep lids closed while carrying. In a Reno spring wind, an open tote in a breezeway is a mess waiting to happen.

05After the move: cleaning and pickup

Do the final clean once the unit is empty, take dated photos of every room for your records, and return keys, fobs, and parking passes on time.

When you are unpacked, confirm tote pickup with us and set the empties in the agreed spot with all rented equipment together. That is the last item on the list.
